There are so many variables to consider that comparing "apples with apples"
is really difficult. There is only so much that one can do with
technology and some manufacturers place a high level of
importance on the number of courses a unit can hold.
We had to ask ourselves from a golfing perspective which is more important: having 20,000 courses stored on the unit or knowing how many fairways and greens you hit in regulation? There is no right or wrong answer.
This chart is by no means totally comprehensive and you should read it in conjunction with the full reviews for each model. And even then you will have to make up your own mind. We don't like annual plans but many people are happy to pay an annual membership.
We would like to mention that if the UPro had more golfing functions (and a larger course library) it would win by a proverbial mile. As it is at the moment we believe that the Golf Guru 4 with their unbelievable customer service, ongoing research and development and future commitment to enhancing a players golfing pleasure come out on top. We would however like to see them make the unit a lot more attractive.
The one to watch out for in the future is the Garmin Approach. Garmin have been in the GPS business for a long time and we believe this will eventually reflect in the Golf GPS models they bring out.
We have tried to source the best price and shipping costs where ever possible but occasionally Amazon have specials . Be sure to check Amazon's prices as well.
